Melicious
(say mel-ish-us) adj.
1. The highly pleasing combination and/or melding of a malicious
little man dealing out punishment via delicious sounds.
2. To make one's ears bleed.
The
headman of the Melicious Neo Zeed, Joel Jivemaster
Bird started programming and experimenting with synths at
the tender of 16. In a time and place where everyone was playing
guitar and punk rock was considered cool and the in thing
(yeah right), Joels talents were growing significantly
elsewhere. Grabbing inspiration from his various musical idols
including electronic-punk legend Liam Howlett, aka The Prodigy
as well as Regurgitator, TISM, ON Inc., Sonic Animation, The
Zoobombs and MGF to name a few, Joel was determined to bring
something new to this already crowded world of rockstar wannabes.
Gifted with a natural ear for music and a pure lust for screaming
synth rockage, Joels music grew from mixed emotions
of occasional happiness, frequently arising anger and the
need to express the truth while throwing pop out with
the pansies.
Trying
to find his place in between numerous bands without any luck,
Joel made the next rational move going solo. It was
at this point that Joel was able to fully unleash his potential
without being held back by keyboard-frigid-synth-a-phobes
too scared to even feature a synth in a chorus. Extending
his existing skills into other areas, including furthering
his guitar and bass prowess as well as harnessing the ever-important
ability to record, mix and master his own material at a professional
level himself, Joel became a self-reliant music machine, with
top-notch graphical design abilities to boot. With complete
control over his own unique sound and production value, Joels
music was definitely produced the way it was made to feel.
After
several years of occasional composition, beat mixing and lyric
writing in between University and other commitments, it all
finally came together. With the dream of creating a combination
of retro rock guitar with synthesised, break beat driven madness
and topping it off with brat rock vocals and a touch of hip-hop,
a somewhat bizarre but awfully gorgeous kind of new-age rock-fusion
was born. With aggressive power, delicious sounds and semi-comical
lyrics which tell nothing but the truth, at least somebody
was able to do something right, without holding back. Enter
The Melicious Neo Zeed.
